Funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation
Led by Detroit Public Television (WTVS-TV), "Arab American Stories - A National Dialogue" encourages local PBS stations, as well as other community partners around the country, such as library systems, to host events, forums and dialogues to increase public understanding of Arab American history, culture, diversity and contributions to society. The outreach program is based on the 13-part public television series Arab American Stories that features stories of Arab Americans of all walks of life to put a human face on the Arab American experience. Funding for "Arab American Stories - A National Dialogue" was provided through a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
The event will consist of a panel of participants, which include Arab American Stories documentary characters and community leaders. Vignettes of the series featuring the panel participants will be shown in between discussions with the panel and moderator and Q&A with the audience. The goal of the panel discussion is to provide a candid snapshot of the Arab American community and the issues they're currently facing.
